plymouth theme management

Asked by GuyR

Hello all
According to
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/...lymouth.8.html

It is possible to manage plymouth theme.

But when running:
root@ubuntu-desktop:/# plymouth-set-default-theme --list
Le programme « plymouth-set-default-theme » n'est pas installé. Vous pouvez l'installer en saisissant
apt-get install plymouth

The system told me to install Plymouth !!!
But it is installed !!

root@ubuntu-desktop:/# locate plymouth
/bin/plymouth

GuyR,

I'm assuming your running Lucid (if you've gotten Plymouth on Karmic somehow, this doesn't apply)

As of two days ago using the command "sudo plymouth-set-default-theme --list" would in fact list the available themes, now I am also getting "sudo: plymouth-set-default-theme: command not found"

See Bug 549321 at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/549321 which deals with not being able to set the default theme, and getting a command not found error as well.

I'm sure, as the forum poster suggested to your post http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1440223 that it will be fixed soon - it is certainly a "bug" and you are using the correct command.

Best of luck,
George

In fact the command to use is:
sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth
