Hi,

Unfortunately the printer's CD may not include drivers for Linux (try to browse for it and see whether there is a folder for Linux drivers).

The Canon Pixma MP270 does not appear on the list of Linux supported printers:
http://www.openprinting.org/printers

There is however a driver for Pixus (=pixma) MP270 on this page (in Japanese):
http://cweb.canon.jp/drv-upd/bj/bjlinux320.html

and a deb package for the pixus(pixma) MP270 on that page (direct link below):
http://pdisp01.c-wss.com/gdl/WWUFORedirectTarget.do?id=MDEwMDAwMjM2MjAx&cmp=ACM&lang=JA

It will download a deb.tar.gz file. Choose to open it and it will be opened by the file archiver after downloading. Extract the archive and change directory to it.

The following is highly hypothetical as I don't use this printer and cannot check that the installation will work on my system (you need to be a little comfortable with the command line to install printers that don't work right of the box with Linux), so only do it if you're comfortable with using the command line:

There will be a "install.sh" file inside that you need to run as root with the following command in a terminal, after having changed your working directory to the archive:

sudo bash install.sh

Afterwards you may need to reboot your computer to check if the printer is working or not?

Use the following site: http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010753.asp

Point 19 is a Linux Deb driver.

Hope it helps.
