Fantastic to hear such positive news :) You know that you can charge those friends & people to pay you for technical support? You can even charge for the Cds themselves as long as you let people know where they can download Ubuntu for free. Somehow people still usually prefer an official Cd rather than going for the free download.

Also it is possible to order a bulk purchase of Ubuntu Cds from
http://shop.canonical.com/index.php?cPath=17
and you can use these Cds or any you already have to make copies
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto
and then md5sum check them and add the official artwork, covers and such-like from

Check the GPL licensing agreement to make sure if you are uncomfortable with doing this. You do deserve to get some money back for the time & effort you put into this. This is Free as in "Freedom of Speech" not always about being free as in "free lunch". Often people respect something more and understand it better when there is a charge involved. Tom,

I disagree.

If you get the CDs for free from Canonical or someone else (i.e. your
LoCo team) you should not be charging for the CDs themselves.

I've seen people bundling the official CD with other software and I
think personally that is wrong too. The Ubuntu CDs should be given
away for free not bundled, but standalone and with no requirement to
buy anything else.

Besides that I think you are fine.

If you buy from Canonical, you should of course be able to resell them I guess.

Just to put that point clear.

Any other thoughts on this?

I am not suggesting charging as much as Windows in order to make people appreciate that what they are getting is comparable Windows and not just cheap rubbish (although i would argue that Windows is cheap rubbish but with an excessively high price-tag). I am suggesting charging a fair price in-line with what others are already charging to cover hidden costs as well as direct costs. A small profit to encourage growth perhaps leading to a new business based in OpenSource software seems a good plan for helping defeat Bug #1 and it is also well within the GPL agreement.
