Does Ubuntu load from a CD

Asked by r2cool

I downloaded ubuntu-7.04-desktop.iso. I burnt the image file on a disk and I installed it on VMWARE that is running on a Windows System. Now If i remove the CD from the drive and try to start the virtual machine it does not load the OS, instead the VMWARE says cannot find boot device. My question is that is the CD image i downloaded and burnt a 'live CD' (something like Knoppix). If so how do i get around this problem, as I would like to use CD's on the XP machine while running VMWARE.

Thanks

Ubuntu boots as a LiveCD by default, but if you want to use Ubuntu permanently you should double click on the "Install" icon on the desktop, and follow the instructions.
Note that you need to allocate some disk space to VMWare, asi it will install it to disk.
