install trouble

hello, i cant install ubuntunt 7.04 or earlier distros of ubuntu, becouse my pc hangs up when im about 5% of the disk partition. when im starting to create ext3 file system it just locks down, and stays forever there.. :( i hope you know what to do. and my computer have been handling ubuntu before so i dont know whats the problem really is.

well, maybe you cant tell us more about your computer, like processor, RAM, HD.... and everything you know... to make this easy.

okay. i bought the pc for like a year ago now.
Its a laptop from Hp called Dv5158.

HD: 80 gb
Ram: 1024
processor: amd turion 1800.
grapichs: Ati radeon X 200M

i have never had trouble like this, before and i have switched between windows XP and linux ubuntu many times, so im really confused.

im using all the hard drive for ubuntu know.. i have tryed to manually partitioned it and also used the auto partition but it just hangs up on 5% of the partition process.

I found a similar bug, if it is not applicable please unlink it.

I would try completely wiping the hard drive with Gparted.
Rebooting.
Setting up partition (With Gparted).
Rebooting.
Checking to make sure it's set up the way you want it.
Installing.

If all else fails try the alternate-installer...
