Is Thinkpad R51 supported platform? Not able to boot from CD

Not able to boot from CD. I checked memory and hard drive. they are ok.

Yes,
I got terminated with Status 4 when I tried all the different boot
parameters suggested in:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootParameters

noapic nolapic
acpi=off 907, 908
irqpoll 1023 1024
lapic pci-routeirq 1035 1036

yes, I am not able to boot properly. Screen goes blank after flurry of hard
drive activity.

I have to use F12 and select boot from CD, then I have to use F6 to get
visible menus. Otherwise the screen goes blank.

I just looked at the F1 help section and noticed that 384 MB RAM is prereq.
I only have 256 MB on this poor laptop.

Could you confirm that this is a show stopper?
