UBUNTU 10.10: login failed

Asked by peter

Hi

I would install UBUNTU 10.10 but it failed. I burned a cd, I started it and after the login (the five rolling points) I got the following message:

(process 253): Glib-Warning **: getpuid_r (): failed due to ubknown id (0)

What can I do? Thanks i advance.
Peter

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
DId you burn the CD as slowly as you could?
Did you use the CD functionality to test the CD for defects once initially booted to?

1: I used MD5SUM and I didn't get a sum, So the CD is bad?
2:Yes
3: I couldn't do this. The CD doesn't support this feature. It crashed on the way to choose the language and where you can decide to install or to test it.

I got an MD5SUM:

peter@linux:~# md5sum /root/OwnData/TempStorage/ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso
59d15a16ce90c8ee97fa7c211b7673a8 /peter/OwnData/TempStorage/ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso
peter@linux:~#

How can I compare it? Thanks.
