Trying to run My Timex Datalink with Xubuntu

Asked by Rick Rodziewicz

HI

I'm I recent convert to Xubuntu (10.10) from Windows XP. There seems to be a site that has an UBUNTU interface, but it doesn't seem to work for me. I'm probably doing something wrong. I think it's a compatibility problem. Unfortunately the last time I used anything UNIX like was 30 years ago in college, so I think I may have to re-learn a lot of old terms and definitions and learn a lot of new ones. I'm very happy with the Xubuntu environment, but I have a lot of old hardware like my old Timex Datalink USB I'd like to take along with me instead of relegating it to a drawer bottom. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes .... a little cryptic to me just now, it's the old learning curve thing.
I'll concentrate on this as a winter hobby, using your link . Any tips/advice would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi
I'm trying a new tactic. I installed WINE and it's working well. I load the XP driver for the Timex Datalink and that seems to working well too, until I connect the Datalink to my desktop, when they seem to recognize each other then the link times out after a few seconds. Watch battery is fresh.
Also seems to be happening to my UNIDEN cordless phone, when I try using usb.
I have USB Mount installed as well as HAL and pmount, Could they be conflicting with each other.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Best Regards,

Rick
