ubuntu 8.04 was running.
will not re-boot.
this message sent under original install disk ; live.

Ubuntu 8.04 is a very old release.
The LTS 8.10.1 is at end of life.
Current LTS is 10.04.1 and current short term release is 10.10.
I'm afraid you will have difficulties to get help.
Do you have a reason to stay with 8.04 ?
