Live-CD boot error

Asked by Bipin Thite

Hi...
I'm using Intel Pentium D Processor 915, Intel D102G motherboard, Samsung 40 GB Hard Disk.
I had ordered Ubuntu 7.04 CDs, two 32-bit & one 64-bit few days back and tried to install one of them on my PC. But, whenever I try to boot from 32-bit version CD, it refuses and gives error like this:

BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-3ubuntu3) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands

/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
(initramfs)

This problem happens only with 32-bit CD, whereas 64 bit CD boots properly and with no installation problems. I also have 32-bit Kubuntu CD but I'm getting same error mentioned above. I had Ubuntu 6.06 LTS CD (32- bit) as well but it has no issues & works fine. Not all CDs can be defective, so what would be the issue.

I would be so thankful if you could provide some help!
Thank you!!!

Boot into the cd and when you see the menu with «Start or Install Ubuntu» press F6 and *before* the two courses (--) add «acpi=force irqpool». You will have some similar to
quite splash acpi=force irqpool --
If it doesn't solve the problem, use off instead of force:
quite splash acpi=off irqpool --

Hi All...

Sorry for being late to respond and thank you, for your response!

My issue with CD has been resolved. Actually, not by the options you gave in your answer. After using "quite splash acpi=force irqpool --" and "quite splash acpi=off irqpool --" it gave me the same error message. So I tried using "quite splash noapic -- " and it worked! Now I'm able to boot into the Live-CD of Ubuntu & Kubuntu.
