Is NFS based installation an option for Ubuntu / Debian?

Asked by Christer Edwards

I've been working with network based installation for Ubuntu, primarily via http, but I'm wondering if NFS is an option. I've seen screenshots of NFS as an option during the netboot / expert installer but I can't recreate it.

Is or was NFS based installation an option for Ubuntu and can it be activated / added?

I have tested this with the alternate and netboot installers as well as PXE booting. None of these present with an NFS option. I believe Ubuntu/Debian support http, ftp, cdrom and hard-drive installations only.

Its on the alternate install CD, or you can grab a debian netboot image and debbootstrap a ubuntu install image on a NFS share.
