Finding ftp program

Asked by Bob Marconi

Hi,

Using Synaptic Package Manager I installed an ftp program (supposedly) but I will be d__ned if I can find it!

How do you find 'stuff' that is installed? I tried the command 'locate ftp' from a terminal window and got a whole slew of file names but have no idea what it/they mean(s).

I also installed the Debian menu (again supposedly) but that didn't help either.

Linux is hard to use for a non-techie. I am using this as a backup system and need ftp.

Thanks,
Bob

Amazing what can happen when somebody knows what they are doing!!

Thanks Bryan!

ps: Is there somewhere I can go to get the basics of Linux or a book that I
can buy or should I just let you answer all my questions?

Thanks again!
