How do I mount an NTFS HDD to Linux?

Asked by Sirmac

When I attempt to mount my HDD on Ubuntu 7.10 I get an error message:

"hal-storage-fixed-mount-all-options refused uid 1000"

How do I get around this?

Thanks.

Before to go into deep try this:

Open a terminal and install ntfs-config
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install ntfs-config
then (i refer to Ubuntu 7.10) open the menu Applications->System Tools-> NTFS tools and set read and write for removable devices

Shutdown Windows properly and then boot into Ubuntu again and try, must be a small NTFS security glitch I s'pose.
