The Dell 1390 wireless card is supported by Ubuntu 7.04, but not out of the box. You will have to either download and extract the required firmware or install ndiswrapper.

Sure.

(1) Download this file http://downloads.openwrt.org/sources/wl_apsta-3.130.20.0.o to the Desktop.

(2) If you have an Internet connection, open the System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager and search for and install the bcm43xx-fwcutter package.
Or download it from the package archive http://packages.ubuntu.com/cgi-bin/download.pl?arch=i386&file=pool%2Funiverse%2Fb%2Fbcm43xx-fwcutter%2Fbcm43xx-fwcutter_006-1_i386.deb&md5sum=7077056506c2f87bd7763310c150bc6e&arch=i386&type=main
and transfer this file over to the Ubuntu machine/partition. Then double-click it to install.

(2) During installation you will be asked if you want to download the firmware, select no. Instead use the file from step (1) using the following terminal command,

sudo bcm43xx-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware Desktop/wl_apsta-3.130.20.0.o

(You should be able to extract the firmware from the dell driver as well, but that would involve more work).

(3) Restart the machine to reload the driver properly.

(4) You should now be able to configure the connection using the nm-applet in the top-right corner.

These are the basic steps, for a longer version with more details see the following wiki page,
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx/Feisty
