Mouse Touchpad - Left Button Scrolling

Asked by Jonathan Rigley

Hi, I have an Acer Aspire 3690 with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS installed, Using the inbuilt touchpad when I click on the Left button it left clicks and scrolls the page down. If I try to click on something in firefox the page just quickly scrolls down. If I plug in a usb mouse it works properly as it should. I am very new to Linux so not sure where to look or what to edit.

Many thanks
Jonathan

This does not happen when I dual boot into windows so it isn't an hardware error. If I plug in an external mouse that works perfect. However if I use the integrate touchpad the left button left clicks and scrolls down at the same time.

Thank you to all that took the time to have a read of this problem. I have now solved the problem by typing synclient UpDownScrolling={0} into a terminal window.
