Asked by Emadocom

Hi,

I have installed Ubuntu 7.10 on my laptop and it worked nicely ..
When I tried to install it on my desktop ( which has a small monitor 14' ) .. it work Ok until the grub loader start,
If i choose the normal mode, the screen turn blank, but it works ok on the other modes.

So, how to reset the resolution or anythng that will make it work from the recovery mode ??

Thanks

Emad

When the grub loader starts, type ESC to enter grub loader menu.
Type E to edit the normal mode
Go down to the line that starts with "kernel", type E to edit this line
At the end of the line, there is the word "splash", remove it
do not change anything else on the line, press enter
Press B to boot the modified line.

If it is ok this way then you just have to remove the splash screen from your grub configuration to make changes permanent:
On the run command window (ALt+F2) type: sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
Use search and replace, and remove all "splash" words.
Save the file and reboot to check if it worked
