Are you booting from Ubuntu 7.10 desktop cd...?
Are you sure there are .not. floppy inserted into floppy drive...?
Are the cd the first boot drive set into your bios...?

DR-DOS is another operational system.

There is no DR DOS in the ubuntu CD

You must be booting from somewhere else (like a floppy disk, another CD, your hard drive), or your CDs got mixed... There is no DR-DOS on the official ubuntu CD.

Check your computer setup boot options to certify you are booting from the CD, and remove all other disks and CDs from other drives you may have, verify if the CD you are trying to boot is really the ubuntu CD.

This is an issue with nero. You need to use the right option to burn the Iso image to the disk.

This is from another forum, I dont know what version of nero it refers to.
"The correct Nero option is "Burn Image" under the Copy and Backup menu. When I put that in my Linux machine, I see all the files on the CD, rather than just the image. It also generates the correct sum."

Alternately, try this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

Infrarecorder (mentioned on that wiki page) is a small download - a couple of Mb. Although I've not tried it myself, it looks very straight-forward.

At what stage do you get this message? What is the precise wording?

* If this is at the burning stage, are you using Nero or Infrarecorder?

* if the image burned successfully, can you look at this page, and see if that helps?
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck

* if the image didnt burn successfully, then try this page:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM#head-cc4057205f46f3da4e36ee1974c50c51bd89ed24

MD5sums can be found here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes

Hope this helps

Maybe, you could try to run Dos with virtualbox. (www.virtualbox.org), or try dosbox.

In the future, please ask new questions separately (see the bottom of the page), it helps others to search for answers, thanks ;)
