re desktop scanner for ubuntu

Can anyone suggest a desktop scanner that Ubuntu will drive? I have an excellent Brother HL1430 laser printer and do not have the room for a multi-function. So am having to use windows (hated!!) just to scan music. Someone help, please. Richard.
