Ubuntu 7.10 wrong boot and Nvidia video problem

Asked by Isaac Cortes

Hi there.
I want to ask if Canonical will going to fix this problem with Nvidia graphics and video driver.
I tried to boot from my live-cd 7.10 and when welcome screen apears, I only see multicolored lines.
Please check this link with a picture there ( http://ubuntunero.wordpress.com/2007/11/09/ubuntu-710-sigue-con-problemas-nvidia-6800gs/ )
I've tried to use all resolutions without success. This problem is the same in Ubuntu 7.10 and 7.04, I thought in new version will be fixed.
I have an XFX Nvidia Geforce 6800 GS

I'm going to use alternate cd to see if I can install Ubuntu, but if I think in this, when the setup finished, I will see the same multicolored screen and I have to install Nvidia drivers manually.

Some idea?

Regards

Install latest nvidia drivers from nvidia website, that will hopefully solve the issue.

You can use the excellent envy tool from Alberto Milone to do this. See http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html

Can you help with this problem?
