no sound after restallation of 10.04 on toshiba tecra 8000 laptop

Hi had to do a reinstall of 10.04 lts on toshiba trecra 800o laptop
everything as reload but this no info in sound prefference ie output .input etc .
have no sound at all and no logo on the top tool bar

I suggest performing a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

Ubuntu 10.04 will be end-of-life next month.

Lucid has less than one month support left. After which there will be zero support and zero updates. I recommend a clean install of Precise. It is LTS and supported til April 2017. I wouldn't waste and more time on Lucid
