Downloaded 64bit iso will not work

Asked by Richard Hewlett

When I download a 64bit iso, and use unetbootin to create a flash drive, when I try to boot it will not boot and says

Invalid or corrupt kernel image

I have tried with both the ubuntu-13.04-desktop-amd64.iso and the ubuntu-12.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?

I MD5 tested both ISO files that I downloaded and both checked out.

Have you tried other USB creator applications?

No. I have been using unetbootin for at least 6 years now. I worked for 4 years in field service, and one of the first steps in solving a problem is to try and reproduce it. Have you been able to reproduce my problem?

It would help if you provided some additional information like the version of unetbootin, the exact model of hardware on which you are attempting to install, if it is a secure boot/UEFI machine, and the state of those settings, etc.

What would really help is someone addressing the issue. Obviously noone wants to. Since I have to resolve the issue myself that is what I will do. Without all the time wasting comments I have received so far.
