Authorization request in gnome after boot asking for my e-mail password

Asked by tadiv

Over the weekend I upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10 and since working out the boot issue I had just after the upgrade, each time I boot into the gnome desktop, I have some app (unidentified) asking for authorization via my email password - the only hint is there is a checkbox that goes with something like "Do you want this password added to your keyring?"

Silly me, I'm not willing to give my password to any unknown app - and the app locks up my UI - I can't do anything until I either enter the password or select the [cancel] button... I looked for a "keyring" application, but came up empty... Can someone lead me to how I disable this request or understand what exactly it is?

Thanks,
Tom

It's the gnome keyring which stores credentials. This happens when users use autologin.

That's interesting, and it's nice to have an idea of where the request is from, but I'm not using autologon... Is there some way to turn it off? (also, this AM when the internet was down hard, it did not ask for my e-mail password)...

Thanks,

Tom

In the password application in Dash you can change your keyring password. Set a blank password and it shouldn't bother you

The application /bin/dash does not seem to do anything...
