Xubuntu error message after upgrading 7.04 to 7.10

Asked by Ole Eskildsen

I just don't get it and I hope somebody can help me with this.
I wanted to upgrade Xubuntu from version 7.04 to 7.10 and after downloading hundreds of MB and going through the install procedure I end up with an error message every single time I run a software update utility like synaptic.

The message I get is this:

============= ERROR MESSAGE FROM SYNAPTIC ===============
An error occured

The following details are provided:

E:acpid: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
E: acpi-support: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
E: powermanagement-interface: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
E: xubuntu-desktop: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
============= END OF ERROR MESSAGE ===================

Things seem to be working ok, but after every single update I get the same annoying message.

What have I done wrong?
Is my Xubuntu installation upgraded to 7.10?

Please help someone.

Regards,
Ole,
relative newbie

Hello, you might want to have a look at the following thread.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3567324

seems that the same problem, and the fix was:

sudo /etc/init.d/acpid stop
sudo dpkg --configure acpid
