i typed 'sudo rm /* ' & now 7.10 not booting -" kernel panic " .

I typed in terminal - 'sudo rm /*' instead of 'sudo rm ./*' because i wanted to delete some files as root.
Now i can't boot ubuntu even when i try in rescue mode. The last few lines are :-

I mounted this file system from another linux and found that the /cdrom , initrd.img and vmlinuz files are not present in filesystem i.e / .

By using "sudo rm /*" you have deleted them ;-). But I think reinstall of kernel (e.g. from LiveCD using chroot) should help you.

I wanted to delete some files which could be deleted only by root.
Actually , I wanted to type ' sudo rm ./* ' after I changed to the required directory.
I did a fresh installl after that.
