Cannot run Ubuntu 7.10 as a live cd on AMD sempron 3500+, why?

Asked by help10111

I have tried to run the Ubuntu 7.10 cd in live mode on my computer, but it just freezes when the ubuntu loading screen appears..

is this because i have an AMD sempron processor? if it is then is there anyway in which to install ubuntu bypassing running it as a live cd?

Hi,

Try the 64-bit version.
You can download it here; http://releases.ubuntu.com/7.10/

Cheers,

As for the other question;
Yes, you can install Ubuntu without a Live CD. Just download the alternate CD, it uses a text-based installation for Ubuntu.
