from cd can boot 15.10 but not 14.04

Asked by dan tiernan

i am able to install 15.10 on my hard drive and found that this version does not save dummy interfaces after a reboot. so i am trying to downgrade to 14.04. When I put in the cd to boot from, my system sees it, i choose either boot or install, the system starts to read the cd, i get the ubuntu screen, but then the screen goes blank. I can stick in the 15.10 cd and all is well.

my machine is a hp elitedesk min 800 g2.

i have burned anothe cd with the same results.

any ideas why the behavior im seeing?

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
Did you burn the CD as slowly as possible?

i create a new dvd and burned at 2x.
