can't install nexuiz

Asked by Dines683

I am running ubuntu studio 7.10

Until yesterday were i installed some updates i was able to play nexuiz. But after the update nexuiz was removed from my computer and i am not able to reinstall it.
It should be mentioned that for some reason the system only did a partial update.

this is the message i ge when trying to installt:
sudo apt-get install nexuiz
.
.
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
nexuiz: Depends: nexuiz-data (>= 2.3) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

Any ideas?

Hi Dines,
can you put all messages from console.
can you put the output from "tail -n 50 /var/log/dpkg.log"

before, you can use the generics commands to make dpkg system repair by itself

for update your package information:
somone@somewhere:/home/yourlogin# apt-get update

for trying complete any pendent installation :
somone@somewhere:/home/yourlogin# dpkg --configure -a

for trying install any package necessary:
somone@somewhere:/home/yourlogin# apt-get install -f

for more one try:
somone@somewhere:/home/yourlogin# apt-get install nexuiz

post the result, please

Soory for delay ...

I saw your logs and observed
2008-04-14 15:38:23 configure nexuiz-data 2.4-1~gutsy1 2.4-1~gutsy1
2008-04-14 15:38:23 status unpacked nexuiz-data 2.4-1~gutsy1
2008-04-14 15:38:23 status half-configured nexuiz-data 2.4-1~gutsy1
2008-04-14 15:38:23 status installed nexuiz-data 2.4-1~gutsy1

you are seems using backport version from hardy .
http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy-backports/nexuiz-data

but seem a bug that the package nexuiz-data have a backport but the main package nexuiz have not
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=nexuiz&searchon=names&suite=all&section=all

the nexuiz-data package only recommends ( dont require) nexuiz >= 2.4 but could be the problem's root.
Two possible solutions ( I hope :)

1) try download manually nexuiz 2.4 from hardy ( and why not nexuiz-data from hardy too)
http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/nexuiz
http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/nexuiz-data

2) remove from /etc/apt/surces.list or via system -> administration -> software chanel the gutsy-backports option.
then try remove and reinstall nexuiz

I hope this can help you. if other person have better idea I would like learn. :)

About clamav , seems a internet connection problem.
try reconfigure clamav-freshclam with special attention to proxy ( if needed) and the main site from download)

# dpkg-reconfigure clamav-freshclam

I think it solved the question concerning clamav.

But now i have another problem..i cant play any og the games super maryo chronicles, supertux or tremulous, which i used to. They simply wont start. but i dont get any error messages except for supertux :

knudsen83@ubuntu:~$ supertux
[/home/knudsen83/.supertux2] is in the search path
[/usr/share/games/supertux] is in the search path
Couldn't load config file: Couldn't open file 'config': No such file or directory, using default settings

and then nothing happens.

Any ideas of why?
