installing sound driver on ubuntu 7.10

Hello every one,

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Laptop which was running great with Ubuntu 7.10
until i discovered that when I plug in the headphones the sound keep coming
from the laptop speakers. and after searching for along time I found this post

which nothing worked in it... one of the things that was mentioned is to install alsa-driver-1.0.15
but without directions so I tried to do it but i now am stuck with no driver and no sound :(.

please help me to solve this am not sure what to do???

my sound card info.

Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)
Subsystem: Fujitsu Siemens Computer Gmbh Unknown device 110e

check the ubuntu forums this is a problem ongoing

you may try to get an updated version of ALSA doing what described here :

I tired and it didn't work
my I'll wait for Ubuntu 8.04
or it is not solved there too?!!

hi cut out i would try to fin a patch if it is available

you can do this by going to bugs instead of answers and punch in your computer type

you should find a list of known bugs that are either fixed or being worked on

if there has been a fix commited and triaged you should find a link to the patch in

the show thread or a solution for temperary cure
