single user mode: I cannot select options from text based gui (hardy haron)

Asked by marco.pallotta

When I boot in single user mode the system shows to me a text based gui when I should select three options (continue to boot - enter in single user mode and login as root user - fix X).
But the problem is that with cursor keys I cannot select these options (I see strange characters ^B^C..etcetcetc in my monitor) nor the enter key seems to run.

To enter single user mode I have add at the last of the grub kernel line, at grub prompt, the word "single".

I had the same Issue. I removed the package with 'sudo apt-get purge friendly-recovery'

But after you removed friendly-recovery how do you switch between options? Or don't you mind about this?

I don't mind not having it, as it prompts you for a password, then drops you to a command line

Can you help with this problem?
