upgrade 8.04 beta to 8.04 lts

Asked by Myroslav

I installed ubuntu 8.04-beta several months ago and everything was running smoothly. Since the release of ubuntu 8.04 lts, I no longer have access to all repositories, getting the message "Cannot get all repository indexes". How do I upgrade from ubuntu-beta to ubuntu-lts, or am I already automatically running it? Why do I not have access to all repository indexes?

Dear Vojtech,

Thank you for your response. Attached are the contents of the
etc/apt/sources.list.save file. the sources.list file takes me to the
software sources dialogue box.

"he sources.list file takes me to the software sources dialogue box."

You have to open it with text editor (right click on file → Open with → "Text Editor").

You have to remowe the 'web' repository section on the lines (the web section does not exist)

ex:

deb http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hardy-updates main restricted web

to

deb http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hardy-updates main restricted
