is ubuntu 8.04 compatible with winxp pro 2002 sp2

purchased 'digit' mag june 08. got ubuntu 8.04 dvd free. it displays' windows xp service pack 3'. my os is winxp pro 2002 sp 2. can i use it on my pc without hitch - suresh, bangalore, india.

You should not have any problems running ubuntu 8.04 with your current OS.

Just to clarify, Ubuntu 8.04 is an operating system in itself, and will (by default) format your hard drive and remove Windows XP along with any other data before installing itself.

If you are talking about Dual-Booting, the Grubb boot loader is installed by default when you install Ubuntu, and will automatically configure itself to give you the option to boot into either windows or ubuntu when you turn on your system.
