som1special2,
You've got two questions going on here. This is not a problem, but it would be better in the future to isolate only one issue per question. That will ensure your issues get the attention they deserve. =)
Bhavani has given you a lot of good information, on both issues. Let us focus on the web video support issue first, once it's resolved we can focus on the printer issue. Is that ok?
For most web video support (youtube.com, etc.) flashplugin-nonfree is necessary. I recommend installing it as Bhavani has suggested using the command line, or installing it using synaptic. If you are not familiar with synaptic, you can find it by navigating here (if using gnome):
System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager
Then you can search for packages, mark them for installation, and apply changes for installation. You indicated earlier that you installed flashplugin-
We'll address other formats afterwards.

Ok, that is helpful. It should work, if flashplugin-nonfree is installed. Did you manually install libflash support, or did you try to install a plugin through the browser?
Please search for libflash in synaptic. None of the boxes should be marked green.
Please report the answer to the above question, and the status of libflash in synaptic.

som1special,
Ok, I suspect we have some garbage in your system to remove. We know you had gnash stuff and libflashsupport installed. Here's what I would like you to do. All of this is in the gnome-terminal, you can find it at Applications > Accessories > Terminal
Watch for error messages (saying it couldn't perform an operation) in any of the below. If you see one, stop and report the problem. Then we'll resolve it and proceed.
1. Reinstall libflashsupport
$ sudo aptitude install libflashsupport
2. Reinstall gnash stuff
$ sudo aptitude install gnash gnash-common mozilla-
3. Purge flashplugin-nonfree
$ sudo aptitude purge flashplugin-nonfree
4. Purge gnash stuff
$ sudo aptitude purge gnash gnash-common mozilla-
5. Purge libflashsupport
$ sudo aptitude purge libflashsupport
6. Reboot
7. Reinstall flashplugin-nonfree
Either use synaptic, or the following in a terminal:
$ sudo aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree
Afterwards, retest the yahoo video link. All of the above should ensure you only have flashplugin-nonfree installed. I think there is something left in the system.
Please report the results of any errors, or the test of the yahoo video link.
Thanks!

Please report back if you had to uninstall the above, and if so, then also report the yahoo movie retest.
If that doesn't work, then my recommendation is probably going to be a reinstall, if you cannot provide a list of all of the items you installed. We can talk about this later.

Brian,
Ok. We'll close out the video problem. Something that was installed is probably causing the issue. A complete reinstall, and only installing flashplugin-nonfree will resolve it.
While we are on the subject of installing, I recommend you use aptitude in a terminal for all installing and uninstalling. I use synaptic only to find packages I might be interested in and reading about them. My problem with synaptic and apt-get, is that they install the package and its dependencies, but when you use them to uninstall, they only uninstall the package you marked, not the dependencies. You will not be able to uninstall dependencies with aptitude, if the package was first installed with synaptic or apt-get. That is why I use it exclusively for those jobs.
Now on to the printing issue. You did some previous work. I recommend removing and/or uninstalling everything you did so far. Start fresh. I will only be able to guide you to fixes supplied by others, as I don't have the hardware.
I want you to read this post, and pay attention to quickstep's comment on the second page. Attempt to follow his advice. Remember my advice on using aptitude. You can pretty much replace aptitude with apt-get in any of the command line instructions.

Great! I think you are done. If you reread quickstep's post, you'll see that he remarks that the printer doesn't work with sane/xsane yet, but by following directions in the guide (downloadable he says at the same place he sent you for the driver) you will be able to scan using gimp, which is installed by default in Ubuntu (Applications > Graphics > GIMP Emage Editor).
Now that you are done, please remember to mark (change status) the question Solved.

Ok Brian,
Here's what I want you to do first. I want you to use synaptic, to uninstall scangear.
Open synaptic, and search for scangearmp, mark both packages for removal and apply changes. I'd have you do that with cnijfilter also, but appears the printing function is working.
Then in a terminal, run each command on a separate line,:
$ cd /directory/
If they are on your Desktop, then it would be:
$ cd ~/Desktop
Now do each in sequence:
$ sudo dpkg -i scangearmp-
$ sudo dpkg -i scangearmp-
Let me know if there are any lines in the output that contain the word "error". I just installed both the printer and scanner drivers in hardy i386 without problem, so you shouldn't be getting any errors.
Please report back your results and we'll proceed.
Thanks!

The debian package files, are the first four. You should not be using the rpm file, it can be converted, but you want the debian package. Please go back and get the debian package that you are missing. If you are unsure, just download the first four files indicated on the page.
And no problem!
