totem don't play avi files anymore.

Asked by Tbjorn

I have ubuntu 8.04 amd64 with ATI grafic card. After a update a week ago totem don't play avi files, saying that it has no codec ( xvid, divx 5).
All codecs and restricted extras are installed as far as I know. And totem has worked fine till now. There is no panic I have VLC but I like totem.

Try reinstalling Totem by executing:-
sudo apt-get install --reinstall totem
in a terminal and see if that fixes it.

Thanks for the fast answer.
I am afraid it did not help.

Please make sure that all codecs are installed

$ sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-restricted-extras

Perhaps you need the w32codecs

God thinking.
I have now done that, but the problem remains.

Is there any errormsg or something like that? Please tell us what totem puts you out. Also have a look in the logs.
