Usually the best way to find out if there have been reported issues with your hardware is to search the make and model number and Ubuntu in google, that will usually bring up any known issues, also a quick search in the forums http://www.ubuntuforums.org and the . For example when I search google and the forums for:

Gigabyte GA-M59SLI-S5 Ubuntu

And it's variants, I didn't find anyone complaining about problems, so you should be good to go. Just have to do that with the rest. Off the top of my head, you are probably going to need some extra configuration for your analog modem, I don't think ATI supports tv in on the video card, Everything else should probably be fine.

Though if you are getting an error on the CD, please check the MD5 of the disk

Thanks for your help not sure if the cd is the problem or my computer here is the error message, "17119572.052000] Kerner Panic not syncing: IO=APIC +timer doesn't work! Boo with apic=debug and send a report. Then try booting with the 'noapic' option 1719572.052000]_"

I am not sure how to check if the cd rom is corrupted where do I enter those commands?

Does anybody know where I can enter those special commands to boot differently?

Hello !

When you see the menu on install, you can F2 to change language, F3 to change keymap and the key you want o use is F6 ... You then see a line with parameters ... This is the line to edit. Just append 'noapic' in the end (just before the '--').

If you want to send a crash report, you can start with apic=debug and file a bug.

Benoît
