setting up internet conection to my newly installed Ubunto

How do i set-up my internet connection to my newly installed Ubuntu OS. We have an existing connection connected to a linksys wireless router. can this be used at the same time with windows?

At Ubuntu desktop, top of the screen, close to the clock, you should be seeing a network applet. By cleft clicking on it you can see your wireless ssid and connect to it.

You can also connect to your wireless modem from any other operating system at the same time with your Ubuntu.

I'm using desktop connected to the router by wired and 2 other desktop with some laptops.

still, im not connected to the net. after following instruction to the link provided. i tried using the "terminal", after typing ifconfig eth1 i got an "error fetching interface information: divice not found."

Can you post the results of:

lspci

This will list the devices that are on your machine. It sounds like your driver is not being detected properly.
