File transfer Hardy to SMB NAS Freezes
Hi - I recently acquired a NAS 500GB drive. I have managed to mount it in Hardy, and transfer files to and from it, from my HP Pavilion dv9205tx machine over a wieless connection to a DLink wireless router/modem combo.
However when transferring large amounts - like large groups of files- the File Operation freezes. The RAM load doesn't seem to go up, nor the processor load. But the computer freezes. Nautilus windows become unresponsive.
Eventually various windows unlock, and the transfers seem to go through ok, but in the meantime I am crippled. It's very frustrating.
Searching for the answer, there are hints that it might be wireless packets getting lost. I've read there are ways to change the rsize when using NFS, but I am using Samba and can't see any option in the NAS settings to change the packet sizes. A ping to the server reveals no loss of packets.
Any ideas?
