2 core quad CPU board problems, no sound

Asked by ttday

I have a core2 q6600 processor on a GF7050V-M7 motherboard. I bought the system with Ubuntu 7.10 installed but when it arrived..... no sound. We tried debugging it over the phone with no luck.Eventually, I installed a PCI sound card (borrowed) and it works fine. The vendor also installed a video card I noticed which implies they couldn't get the onboard one to work either.
The wireless card works but I have to open a terminal every time I boot up and enable it. I followed the steps I am supposed to to set it up via the System administration utilities with no luck at all. It shows as enabled but isn't. I have to go to root and do first enter the " iwconfig ath0 essid" followed by "dhclient ath0" and then it works fine. Bit of a pain every time though.
Do I need to update drivers?

If I am right you have the same audio chipset I do and it is working on mine.

Can you please post the results of doing an 'lspci'

Thanks.

Just checked and you apparently have a different audio device. Post the lspci just so we know for sure what audio chipset is being used.

You might also consider upgrading to Hardy as this thread indicates that Hardy works on install...

If you want to stick with Gutsy here is another article on the sound card issues.

Thanks for the input,
I am not 100% sure which chipset is on my board has the board came with no specs for that. Here is the result of 'lspci'

The CrystalClear device is the plugin card that I put in (borrowed). I guess the unknown nVidia device is what isn't working.
Apart from all this, is it difficult to update to Hardy and do you think I will gain much, also is this something I should do eventually anyway?
Any clues on the wireless start up bug?
Thanks again for any help.

This is your audio controller:

01:06.0 Multimedia audio controller: Cirrus Logic CS 4614/22/24/30 [CrystalClear SoundFusion Audio Accelerator] (rev 01)

I found this by searching on that chipset -- https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/8464

Try what this person did... and let me know.

Can you help with this problem?
