troubleshooting in synaptic

when i open the synaptic manager i am getting the following error message......

E: The package kernel-image-2.6.24.3-2.6.24 needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.
E: Internal error opening cache (1). Please report.

pl help me...............
 how do i reinstall the kernel-image........?

Open a terminal and enter

sudo apt-get insatll -f

tell me if that fixes your issue
