Default Theme is Ugly

Alright, well let's see if anything happens here.

A new theme and look are proposed for Ubuntu Intrepid. Also if you want to make a change, contribute to the Ubuntu Artwork Wiki, putting it here won't make it seen.

Ubuntu is very easy to customise.

If you don't like the brown theme, select another theme from System, Preferences, Appearance.

If you do not like the background image on your desktop, right click on the desktop and select "Change desktop background". If there is no image that suits you, add one.

Many people I know think that the default theme is very attractive. You must admit that the artwork is stunning. Could you do better?

Yes! I am fine (as an individual) doing those steps, however, for the Die-Hard windows user, they need to boot into an Attractive Live-CD, with a non orange-brown. I polled over 20 people, and they said, "If it looked nicer, I would use it, but it is quite Ugly." They need to have a good first impression. Also, you could always say "Well, you can change it to the orange.... by ....". If it was black, blue, or OpenSUSE green, it would look a lot nicer to the windows freak. Also, can grub get styling by default, similar to OpenSUSE's. It is a lot less frightening to the windows user than a black screen with white text. Thank you.

In addition, I tried Ibex, and the theme it booted me into was even yuckier. It seemed very non-windows attractive. I am not suggesting using the same colors as M$, etc, but I *am* suggesting we use a standard bar, similar to the Human or Glossy bar. The GDM screen could also be redone, maybe to look like http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Ubuntu+Professional?content=81130. Or something similar? Maybe even the OpenSUSE style GNOME menu, found in the gnome-main-menu package. Thanks again.
