hi
If you use envyNG to install the driver it should fix the problem
You can install it from System- Administration-Synaptic Package Manager
in the search field type in envyng
install it from there, once installed you will find it in Applications-System Tools.
click on the icon and select Nvidia ans install from there it will do it all for you. (use auto detect)
Hope this helps

You card requires the legacy driver.

The legacy GPUs are no longer supported in the unified driver. These GPUs will continue to be maintained through the special legacy NVIDIA GPU driver releases.

The 96.43.xx driver supports the following set of GPUs:
GeForce2 MX/MX 400

The driver can be obtained here
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_x86_96.43.07.html

Hope this helps
