I cant acces the things in my external hardrive

I was going to change the icon for my external hardrive when I notice it changed back whenever I was done and it said I didnt have the permission to access it. on a side not I cant use my zip drive, when ever I click on it it says unable to mount and it says the zip drive doesnt exist but if it doesnt exist why can it detect it?

try changing the icon as sudo, it may be permission trouble

the icon comes up the way I want it to know but I cant access anything in it still how do I change that?

run...

gksudo nautilus

then navigate to the folder that contains the harddrive files, and simply change their permissions

it should be under /media/#name/
