wrong module for broadcom wirless driver

Asked by matthias

Hi

Installed Nov 9 2008 ubuntu 8.10, intrepid ibex on my Dell 1705 with broadcom bcm4328 or bcm3428 with b/g/n support.

Upon completion of installation i find that wlan is not configured but ndiswrapper and ndisgtk installed but no driver for the card.

I installed manually the driver for bcm4328 and used ndiswrapper in the installation process ...

However when i run lshw -c network i believe i find that the solution lies in that for my wireless driver i have in one of the strings saying "module=ssb" once i change it from module=ssb to Module=ndiswrapper it work great ...

The work around have been issued for hardy but still remaining in Intrepid ...

what is ssb for and why if ndiswrapper and ndisgtk installed by default ????

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs.
