UBUNTU Release 8.10

Asked by peter

Hello

I've a question regarding the release 8.10. Thanks for you help.

I've upgradet the system from release 7.10 to 8.04 without any problems. And now I would upgrade to the latest release - 8.10. But the update manager doesn't mention this release.

What dio I have to do to upgrade to 8.10?

Thanks for your help.
Peter

Hi peter,

please look at http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading. Here is a short manual for upgrade ubuntu from 8.04 to 8.10.

I hope that resolve your question.

Hi Jürgen

Thanks for your answer. Tomorrow I'm going to do it.

The interesting point is: the upsate manager dowsn't show the releas 8.10. But if you click System>Administration>Software Sources>Updates yiu can find the normal release.

Thanks a lot and have a nice time.

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS is set to upgrade itself to the next LTS release (Long Time Support)

I suggest you to keep the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS because i think Ubuntu 8.10 have some unresolved issue (some for webcam + some for video configuration issue + some for network-manager)

But if you need/want to upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10 you need to change this item
System→Administration→Software sources [ updates ] ... Release Upgrade change it to Normal Release

Hope this helps
