Installation of ubuntu Server 8.10 prompt for cdrom labelled ubuntu_server 8.10_release intrepid ibex_release i386 (20081028.1)

Asked by leatheric

I downloaded the latest version of the ubuntu server 8.10 image and started the installation. Half-way through the installation it requested for a media change with a cdrom labelled ubuntu_server 8.10_release intrepid ibex_release i386 (20081028.1)

Where do i get this CD? I don't seem to find it at ubuntu website.

The version i am using is downloaded from the Download URL: http://ftp.hostrino.com/pub/ubuntu/cdimage/intrepid/ubuntu-8.10-server-i386.iso

Sorry, click on the wrong button.

That is exactly where I downloaded my copy of the server edition of the ubuntu 8.10-server-i386.

I also checked the MD5checksum and it matches, so I am not sure how it will solve my problem.

Have you tried burning the image again using a slower speed? While the md5 of the downloaded iso might be correct, there could be an error on the burned cd. I've had this happen to me a couple of times before.

The first image was burned using Nero 7 and the default setting. This copy requested for a media change with a cdrom labelled ubuntu_server 8.10_release intrepid ibex_release i386 (20081028.1) half-way through the installation especially after the selection of packages to install.

The second image was burned using InfraRecorder with default setting and it works perfectly.
