my wired connection to router not working!

Hi!

I am new to Ubuntu, maybe about a month ago, I decided to install Ubuntu 8.10 on my desktop and kept my laptop with windows (later I installed ubuntu on another partition on my laptop). The internet has been working for both computers, however now, the desktop, the one connected directly to the router isnt working anymore! but the wireless connection on my laptop is working great. What is wrong?can someone help me please?

Have you always had a wired connection and a wireless connection at the same time? I mean when they were working before?

Yes they were both functioning well at the same time.

However, I realized that it was a problem with my router, since my wireless connection stopped working a few days ago. but i got that fixed adn now both are working fine again. Thanks again!
