this is just a thing that happens with dsl modems. depending on who your provider is ther is a few ways to solve this. i use to provide dsl tech support for sprint and the best way to prevent this issue is to let the computer or router do all the work in other words BRIDGE your dsl modem. call tech support for your internet provider and they will ask you why you want to bridge it. tell them something like your xbox and ps3 wont work through the modem your getting a nat 3 and you need a nat 2 so you want to bridge it. some companys will fight with you i know we were not suppose to bridge someones modem unless they were a company or had a damn good reason.

I've mentioned that this issue began with 9.04.
With 8.10 there's no problem.
So is the problem with 9.04 or transmission on 9.04 ?

the only way software causes problems with modem's is with bittorrent it sends so many packets through the modem at max speed. now by doing this through a normal dsl mdoem with the default firewall settings grabbing so much information it FLOOD's the modem and kills the routing capability. to fix this bridge the modem. also you should see a speed increase in bit torrent also. if you want this to stop but refuse to bridge it limit your bandwidth. make it so transmissions dosnt download at max speed set it so the max speed is liek 100kbps. orrr if this is just transmission creating tons of error packets and the firewall on the modem is catching all of this then try a diffrent torrent app. i have dsl a router and like 10 things on my network on bit i have filled up 500+GB without ever rebooting my modem... solution bridged modem. when thsy installed it it kept locking up. you dont want a dsl mdoem in routed mode. trust me this will; fix your issue
