REALLY BIG PROBLEM!!! Ubuntu Screwed up my Vista and XP?!?!?!

Asked by PPSD

Ok well, this morning the Ubuntu wireless wouldn't work, but XP and Vista worked.

This after noon, I booted to Ubuntu to get some feedback on why the wireless router didn't work, and then I went to save the data, and picked wrong drive, then it said could not save because of "denied access." So I booted to XP after saving the text file to a floppy drive, and when XP booted up, there was no sounds, and the avast antivirus wouldnt work, the firewall wouldnt work, the wireless internet wouldnt work.

All of my service couldnt be found, and I couldnt even open up System restore.

Windows Vista won't even boot up, so I'm stuck with Windows 7 RC now. (the operating system im using now. Quad booted system. XP, Vista, 7, Ubuntu, which ubuntu might go becuase it screwed things up.)

How do I fix all of this mess? When I stick in the disk for XP recovery, i don't know which drive to pick, cuz they are all random from what they are when I'm on any of the Operating Systems. I'm really scared i screwed up my comp T_T

hi
Its not Ubuntu that messed things up, but by what you said you did.
I take it you can not tell the drives apart as they are just letters ie c,d e.
If you boot into vista or 7 you can give the driver a name, best name then what they are ie Vista Win Xp etc. you wont see Linux drive. window are very helpful that way.
after you have done that you should be able to work out what drive is what as the names will be there.
Or you can insert the Xp disc and do a repair from there. if it says you have an older copy of windows (or something like that) uninstall the last service pack. reboot and then try.
You will have to fix the boot grub for the other OS's
Hope this helps

Well, i tried to do a repair, and well it screwed my whole computer up. I couldn't log in or anything because it said that windows wasn't activated. I tried the Phone thing, and it wouldn't work their either. So I just had to use my Vista restore disks and start all of this all over again. I didn't lose much stuff because I had extra disks of my music, pictures, etc.

Anyhow, I will not be using Ubuntu because it screwed up my computer, and it made XP not able to find the services it needed to run.
