anybody successfully installed pdfedit with 7.04?

pdfedit seems to be a hopeful program for editing and tweaking pdf docs.
http://pdfedit.sourceforge.net

also read through the documentation on the site.

so i googled to discover it may have issues in installing in feisty.

also checked out this page:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PDFedit

anybody had luck installing this software?
how may i install this?

also, apart from pdftk, and oo.o, scribus, kword, ofcourse, could you recommend any other useful tools for tweaking pdf documents?

Pardon me I've recommended pdfedit in your question #7733 without having in
mind that it is only in gutsy in the moment. *shameonme*

You may dowload it from
 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/pdfedit/

After downloading the pdfedit deb file you can install it with 'sudo dpkg -i'
as described on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PDFedit

E.G. for pdfedit_0.3.1-1_i386.deb download the file and after that open a
terminal and start:
 sudo dpkg -i pdfedit_0.3.1-1_i386.deb

As the project pagte shows this will bring you the latest pdfedit:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfedit/

i downloaded and commanded feisty to dpkg -i as you suggested.
here are the errors it whined back at me:

Unpacking pdfedit (from .../pdfedit_0.3.1-1_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of pdfedit:
 pdfedit depends on libc6 (>= 2.5-5); however:
  Version of libc6 on system is 2.5-0ubuntu14.
 pdfedit depends on libgcc1 (>= 1:4.2-20070208); however:
  Version of libgcc1 on system is 1:4.1.2-0ubuntu4.
 pdfedit depends on libstdc++6 (>= 4.2-20070208); however:
  Version of libstdc++6 on system is 4.1.2-0ubuntu4.
dpkg: error processing pdfedit (--install):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
 pdfedit

what gives?

 Aarrgll, my fault.
Should have tested this before, pardon me please.

I seems it needs the libc6 of gutsy.
But this would need an upgrade to gutsy which is in development and by this is
not to be expected stable! So please don't do this!

I've just checked the installation of the rpm file offered at sourceforge on a
7.04 Feisty Fawn machine and it worked.

- If not installed please install alien
  For this use your prefered gui (synaptic, adept, ...) or open a terminal and
  start:
   sudo apt-get install alien

  If of interest you will find more information on alien
  in /usr/share/doc/alien but we don't need this here in the moment.

- download the pdfedit rpm file from sourceforge
  http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfedit
  Just click download and choose pdfedit-0.3.1-1.i386.rpm
  Note: For this example I saved the rpm to my Desktop folder

- Install the rpm file using alien
  Open a terminal and start:
   cd Desktop
   sudo alien -i pdfedit-0.3.1-1.i386.rpm

  The installation will need a while (4min here on a Duron 1400)

- Start PDFEdit 'Applications' -> 'Office' -> 'PDFEdit'

I only tested this on a feisty machine so don't expect the above will work on
ubuntu versions older than feisty.

On Feisty AMD64 I got PDF Edit installed by downloading and installing these deb files:

- Latest AMD64 version from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/pdfedit/ and
- Latest libstdc++6 from http://packages.debian.org/unstable/libs/libstdc++6 to solve dependancy

Haven't tested it thoroughly but it seems to work...
