Dell mini 10v internal bluetooth module not recognized

Asked by zdr

Installed ubuntu 9.04 on a mini 10v that shipped with XP - netwrking etc works fine but the internal broadcom bluetooth module is not recognized :
- not listed under lsusb or lspci
- no device found under hcitool scan
- bluetoothd -n returns "unable to get on D-bus"
-syslog
Aug 11 07:32:46 zella bluetoothd[2601]: Starting SDP server
Aug 11 07:32:46 zella bluetoothd[2601]: bridge pan0 created
Aug 11 07:32:46 zella bluetoothd[2601]: Starting experimental netlink support

Aug 11 08:12:53 zella bluetoothd[2601]: Stopping SDP server
Aug 11 08:12:53 zella bluetoothd[2601]: Exit

on the other hand a USB dongle works fine.
I note that the mini 10 comes with the same module and ubuntu as an operating system option.

Help

Thanks!

Zdr you should file a bug if you are seeing this issue. Include lspci output as well as "lsusb" output (and try to get details on your card). The Mini 10v hardware for Ubuntu & Windows is the same. Also check your installation.

I have been doing testing of bluetooth devices on a Mini 10 with Ubuntu 9.10 alphas. Try that and see if it works. There is a lot of improvement going on around bluetooth in 9.10
