Logitech Quickcam pro 9000, need to get fully functional

Asked by heather michel

My logitech quickcam pro 9000 works in skype fine but nothing outside of that. I read at http://blog.gnist.org/article.php?story=Linux_and_LogitechQuickCamPro9000 that it can be fully functional to do snapshots and record video etc but these instructions are over my head...

cat /proc/asound/cards; dmesg | grep usb; dmesg | grep ideo; lsusb; lsmod | grep uvc gets the following.... any ideas??

heather@heather-desktop:~$ cat /proc/asound/cards; dmesg | grep usb; dmesg | grep ideo; lsusb; lsmod | grep uvc

Also found this link but I am hoping it is overkill and I can get my camera functional outside of skype (for recording a video or taking pic Ie: making camera fully functional..)

I went into Konsole and installed Luvcview from there... If in Konsole or terminal I just type Luvcview it opens up kind of... But I just get the image part w/ some menu stuff at the bottom, no side stuff like lars gets on his page. Also if you click to take a pic or video you can see in konsole that it thinks it is taking a pic etc but nothing happens. So me thinks something is missing...
